Tada Hozumi - "Japanese Spirituality for the Modern Age: Body, Land, Culture, and the Internet"

TADA HOZUMI

They/Them

Mystical Researcher

Tada Hozumi, descending from the world's longest continuous and documented lineage of shamans, is a philosopher, artist, and spirit worker of Japanese ancestry living in the diaspora, mostly in Vancouver BC Canada.

Tada is most well-known for innovating 'cultural somatics', an open-source framework for collective healing that theorized cultures were in fact bodies with nervous systems made up of complex networks of human relationships.

Currently, Tada is working on extending this framework into a larger project that looks at how we may spiritually navigate the present times that are pressurized by the forces of economical and ecological collapse and singularity. Particularly, they are interested in accessing their ancestral wisdoms around both land-based spirituality and techno-animism, seeing the need for there to facilitate spiritual alchemy between URL algorithms and land-based spirits.
